We are proud to work with youth from Miami’s under-resourced communities. Team Paradise will get you out sailing!

Team Paradise is a not-for-profit sailing organization founded in 2005 by Olympic sailor Magnus Liljedahl. After winning a gold medal at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, Magnus felt compelled to give back to the sailing community. He focused on training athletes with Paralympic ambitions, achieving great success with podium finishes at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Paralympic Games. When sailing was removed from the Paralympic competition, Team Paradise adapted its mission and expanded its focus to include sailing programs for veterans with disabilities and youth from diverse backgrounds.

In December of 2014, Team Paradise moved its base of operations to the US Sailing Center. This move provided increased opportunities to promote diversity in the sport of sailing, and allowed for expanded programming to educate and inspire lifelong sailors from all backgrounds. Over the past several years, Team Paradise has developed key relationships with leadership from the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County and the US Veterans Administration, and has significantly increased service to the local community by introducing sailing to youth from the local nonprofit organizations.
