Youth Sailing by Magnus Liljedahl

Youth Sailing PROGRAMS

There has never been a more important time to offer healthy outdoor activities to socialize, relieve stress, and provide much-needed fun, learning structure, and exercise for our youth. Studies show that kids who spend more time using social media are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and other disorders, while kids who spend more time with groups of young people have better mental health. Sailing is the solution! Our goal is to help parents replace the isolation of screens and phones with quality time with other kids with the healthy outdoors activity of sailing. At Team Paradise we unplug from electronics and tune in to nature!

Certified sailing instructors teach our US Sailing Accredited Community Sailing Programs.

Class size is limited, and available spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Team Paradise youth sailing programs are available to youth who want to learn to sail or improve their sailing skills.  To apply, participants must be comfortable in the water, generally in good health, and are willing to comply with our Code of Conduct.

Saturday Sailing

Youth Sailing + STEM Education

We combine learning to sail with STEM education utilizing US Sailing’s Reach STEM Education Series to teach modules connecting youth to STEM education and innovation through the sport of sailing. These STEM modules incorporate climate change, watershed education and green technology, all with a focus on hands-on learning both on and off the water. Providing STEM education to kids will help introduce them to future career paths, give them opportunities for peer-to-peer mentoring, and improve their environmental awareness.

This sailing class is for beginners and those who would like more instruction and time on the water. For ages 9-14. Must pass a float/water comfort test on the first day. $800 per person. Includes Team Paradise long-sleeved SPF sun shirt!

USSC - City of Miami Parks Sailing

Team Paradise is delighted to be the vendor of choice for the USSC - City of Miami Parks Sailing program. We kids from various City Parks come out to sail with us once per week during the Fall Season. As a small “boutique” sailing organization, we are grateful for this opportunity!

During summer 2023, we provided two weeks of sailing to kids from 10 different City of Miami Parks: Curtis Park, Duarte Park, Shenandoah Park, Clemente Park, West End Park, Grapeland Park, Coral Gate Park, Reeves Park, Little Haiti Soccer Park, Legion Park, Jose Marti Park, and Henderson

It was amazing to give most of these kids their first experience on Biscayne Bay. Many of them want to learn how to sail! Visit our blog the learn more.
