Terms & Conditions for basic keelboat certification

1. The Basic Keelboat certification course provides 18 hours of practical sailing experience on our 23' Sonar Keelboat, accommodating up to 3 students per boat plus an instructor. Our classroom is the boat and sailing on Biscayne Bay. We avoid traditional classroom presentations.

2. Sailing lessons with Team Paradise typically last around 3 hours. To ensure that everyone has a great experience, each class requires a minimum of two (2) or three (3) students. If you sign up alone, Team Paradise will try to find another student to join you. However, if they cannot do so, the lesson may need to be canceled and rescheduled for another date. Optionally, the lesson can be shortened if only one student attends.

3. Team Paradise recommends completing all six lessons within six to eight weeks. Your enrollment will expire 360 days after purchase. Lessons are not transferrable.

4. Schedule your first lesson at least two weeks in advance. It gives you time to begin learning ahead of your first lesson. In addition, you will gain access to BoatersExam.com and improve your sailing school experience.

5. Team Paradise requires 48 hours notice to cancel a scheduled appointment. However, we understand that unforeseen medical reasons or uncontrollable circumstances may arise, and we can make exceptions accordingly.

6. Team Paradise reserves the right to cancel any event if safety is a concern. Please remember that weather conditions in your area may differ from those on Biscayne Bay, so it's important not to assume a class is canceled. During unpredictable weather conditions, we may contact you in the morning and possibly postpone the starting time, even for one hour. We offer boats and equipment, instructors, and a sailing location so that you can enjoy a safe and fun experience. It is your responsibility to cancel and reschedule!

7. We understand how important it is to have your scheduled appointments honored, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by overbooking. Unfortunately, due to limitations in our scheduling software, there may be rare occasions when overbooking occurs. If this happens, rest assured that we will contact you within 48 hours of departure and inform you of the cancellation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
