Adult Sailing School
Yesterday was another perfect day for our sailing school. The 10 AM lesson had a good breeze. We headed south to watch the Star Regatta. There is much to learn by watching and sailing next to the boats racing. It explains how close you can get to other boats and how it works. It is great for beginners to see what can be done. We managed to return to port on time for the 1 PM lesson.
So far, the tide had been ebbing, but it was scheduled to turn and begin flooding at 3 PM. That's ideal for sailing around Stiltsville! We headed out through the Biscayne Channel, tacking several times. We then bore away, heading towards the Key Biscayne lighthouse, past the No Named Harbor, Nixon's Beach, and finally, a fantastic broad reach straight back to where we started. We touched the dock with less than five minutes spare. The timing was pretty good for a three-hour sail.
The following morning, I started with an early swim in the pool. Then, I retrieved the boat, cleaned it, and put it away until the next lesson. How about that!
