Sailboat racing on Biscayne Bay
Team Paradise was honored to host the ROCK STAR Corporate Regatta! It was a great day for what we set out to accomplish: light wind, sunny with a bit of overcast. Twenty guests sailed aboard five boats with an expert sailor on each vessel.
The event took four hours from start to finish. The ROCK STAR group arrived in a timely fashion. We met at the US Sailing Center at 10.30 AM for a short meet and greet activity, followed by an introduction to sailing and a skipper's meeting, including the safety briefing.
The boats were rigged and ready to sail. We headed out to Biscayne Bay for a short practice on the race course. The coaching staff was instructed to make it an interactive experience by engaging the team members to help sail the boats actively. Trimming the jib and main, helming and timing the start of each race. The eventual winners had a GoPro camera recording their every moment. We managed to complete three short races in just under one hour. The snack pack provided was appreciated during the sail back to port.
The optional After-Sail at the neighboring Coral Reef Yacht Club was much appreciated. It included food and a favorite beverage. Some of the guests could not resist the swimming pool. The event ended after the medal ceremony.
