our propeller-less safety boat
Yesterday was another breezy day in paradise! The forecast was for 10 to 15 kt SE winds with gusts to around 20 kt. Bay waters a moderate chop. We had twenty-six people on the water, including twenty kids, five coaches, and one assistant coach. Susan remained land-based as usual, heading up our central command in the office.
Everyone except three newcomers sailed the entire time we spent on the water. They used four Fevas and two RS Ventures. Josh and Mo worked with the intermediates while Joe, Leo, and I observed from our propeller-less safety boat. One of our goals was to give our new friends a chance to show off their water comfort before their first sail. We took them to Virginia Key for smoother water. One boy was nervous! Watching him over the next few weeks will be so much fun. He will become very comfortable and enjoy what we offer. I have seen this many times before.

How our Students Benefit
Spending time away from mobile devices and computer screens can benefit kids. Reducing screen time promotes healthier habits like physical activities and social interactions. Additionally, water activities can teach kids valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. Overall, getting out on the water is an excellent way for kids to have fun, stay active, and learn essential life lessons.
