Veterans Sailing is back! Today, we welcomed veterans from the Miami VA Hospital for the first time since before COVID-19 paralyzed our nation. It was about time! Our greater goal is to have 50 uniquely named disabled veterans from five congressional districts in order to apply for a federal grant.

We had an exhilarating two-hour sailing experience. The breeze was somewhere between 17 and 23 knots. We covered a great distance but only spotted a couple of other boats out there. Our voyage took us across the Bay toward the West Point of Key Biscayne, onward into Hurricane Harbour, around Nixon’s Beach, and finally, an awesome reach back to the US Sailing Center in Coconut Grove. Throughout the sail, we chatted and got to know each other better. Sailing is perfect for developing comradery, and we sure did. Check out the pictures and video below.

Our Thursday Sailing program happens on most Thursdays of the year from 10 AM to 2 PM. One Thursday per month is dedicated to Miami VA Hospital only. Veterans and First Responders are offered a 100% discount when using coupon code SAIL-2024. For Veterans, unless you are introduced by the Miami VA Hospital, please bring your VA-ID card or send us a copy. All Veterans and First Responders are welcome.
