team work!
Three veterans came sailing with us today. It was light air, but judging from their smiles afterward, it didn’t matter. One of the veterans had never sailed with us before. We need to grow the number of uniquely named veterans to qualify for a federal grant.
See below for information on how to join us for our next sail on February 15.
Why sailing?
For veterans with disabilities, sailing is used as a holistic therapy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression. Sailing can even have long term effects on veterans who struggle with these ailments and helps to improve their overall quality of life. Being on the water promotes a healthy and active body, but did you know studies show that outdoor activities can help with various mental health issues? Sailing is an activity that brings people together and allows them to explore their own inner strength and courage. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just learning the ropes, sailing is an activity that can bring joy to all who take part in it. Not only will you be able to marvel at the beauty of nature around you, but you'll also get a deeper understanding of yourself and your capabilities.
