New for the spring session of the Saturday Youth Sailing Program is that both intermediates and beginners will be sailing during the same time on Saturday afternoons from 1 PM to 5 PM. (Spring Session begins on March 25). There are several reasons for making this change:
A better chance of having more wind in our sails. The mornings are sometimes calm. The sea breeze usually doesn’t come up until the afternoon.
Providing intermediates more time to sail so that they can learn more.
Allowing beginners to observe the intermediates sailing and also join in on sailing around the marks.
Having the opportunity for all to enjoy the sandbar/anchor spot before sailing back to port.
A better experience for everyone!
Our intermediate sailors will meet separately from the beginner group. As a result, chalk talks will be different for the groups, and so will the sailing and the debriefing.
